TL;DR

  • MerchRoad is free to start, with $0 a month. Sell print-on-demand merch, products you ship yourself and digital downloads, all from one branded store.
  • Opt in and your products also appear on the MerchRoad marketplace, where shoppers fill one cart from several shops and pay once.
  • Affiliates, tracking links, discount codes and embeddable product widgets are built in, on the free plan.

Most creator platforms make you choose. You get a store with your name on it, or a marketplace where new people can find you. With the store, every customer is one you brought yourself. With the marketplace, your work sits in a grid with no brand around it.

MerchRoad is a free print-on-demand store and marketplace for creators. It gives you both. You publish a product once and it shows up in your own store and, if you opt in, on the MerchRoad marketplace. Here's everything you get, what it costs and where we're honestly not the right fit yet.

Three kinds of products, one store

  • Print on demand. Pick from 508 blanks across 8 categories: t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats, bags, drinkware, wall art and accessories. Each item is made after a customer orders, and we print, pack and ship it.
  • Products you ship yourself. Records, zines, handmade pieces, stock you already have. Set variants like size and color, with price, stock and SKU for each, or mark them made to order. Add shipping profiles with your own rates, handling time and international options.
  • Digital downloads. PDFs, music, video, ZIPs and images, delivered by secure link right after purchase.

A fan can buy a hoodie, a signed record you ship and a digital album in one order.

Creating a print-on-demand product takes three steps: pick your colors, place your design, then choose mockups and set your price.

  • A big catalog. Filter by category, brand, price, color or print technique: DTG (printed straight onto fabric), DTF (a printed film pressed on), embroidery, sublimation and more. Some tees come in more than 80 colors.
  • Every placement. Front, large front, back, sleeves, and inside and outside labels, with the print technique chosen per placement where a product offers more than one.
  • Simple uploads. PNG or JPEG files up to 25 MB, saved to your uploads library so you can reuse them.
  • Mockups made for you. Choose which images show on your product page.
  • Room to grow. Add colors and sizes later; new colors get their mockups before they go live.

Pricing you can actually see

Before you publish, you see the production cost for every print-on-demand product. Set your price, or tell the pricing panel how much you want to earn per sale, and your estimated earnings update live. Want to run a sale? Set a sale price or a percentage off, and your page shows the original crossed out next to it.

Here's an example with illustrative numbers:

  • Production cost: $20.00
  • Your price: $32.00
  • Your estimated earnings per sale: $12.00

There's no monthly fee and nothing to pay up front. For digital downloads and products you ship yourself, there's a small fee per sale.

Whatever you sell, your estimated earnings are on screen before the product goes live, so you never publish a price you haven't checked.

A store that looks like you

Your store lives at merchroad.com/shop/your-handle. Make it yours with:

  • Your logo, a banner you can reposition, your brand color and a light or dark theme.
  • An About page with a heading, intro, hero image and your story, with images.
  • Links to your website, Instagram, X and a contact email.
  • A live preview on desktop and mobile while you edit.

Shoppers get category filters, sorting, product pages with image galleries and sale badges, add to cart, buy now and related products.

A print-on-demand marketplace plus your own store

Turn on the MerchRoad marketplace and add a short tagline for your featured store card. Your products then appear in front of shoppers browsing curated collections and featured shops, people who have never heard of you yet.

For shoppers, it's one cart across every shop, grouped by where items ship from, with one checkout and one payment. Finding your hoodie next to someone else's art print isn't a detour; it's how they shop.

Growth tools, free

Affiliates. Give fans, friends or other creators their own link and pay them for the sales they bring in. For each affiliate you set:

  • a commission as a percentage or a fixed amount
  • an attribution window (30 days by default), so they're credited for sales that happen later
  • whether commission includes shipping
  • a welcome email, and a matching discount code created automatically

Your affiliates dashboard shows clicks, orders, revenue and commissions.

Tracking links. Not every link needs a commission. Make a tracking link for your Instagram bio, a newsletter or a single video, point it at your store, a product or any page in your store, and see which one actually drives orders.

Discount codes. Percentage off, fixed amount off or free shipping, as a code or applied automatically. Apply it to your whole store or specific products, set a minimum spend or item count, cap total uses, limit it to one per customer, and schedule start and end dates. You can also tie a code to an affiliate.

Embed your products anywhere. Put a single product card or a product grid on your own website. Pick a style (default, minimal, outlined or dark), match your colors, choose the button label and add a tracking link. Preview it on desktop, tablet and mobile, then copy the code. Install guides cover WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify and Webflow.

Running it day to day

  • Dashboard: earnings, orders, products sold and store views, with trends over 7, 30 or 90 days, your top five products and your latest orders.
  • Orders: a full timeline for every order. For products you ship, add the carrier and tracking. For digital orders, resend the link, revoke access or issue a new one.
  • Digital delivery: upload several files per product, up to 50 MB each, plus an optional free preview. You choose how many downloads each purchase gets (1 to 100) and when the link expires (1 to 365 days).
  • Payouts: connect a Stripe account and get paid weekly, on Fridays. Earnings become available 7 days after an order ships.

Coming from Spring?

Spring (formerly Teespring) stopped taking orders on September 15, 2026 and closed creator accounts on October 15. If your merch lived there, MerchRoad is a free place to rebuild: recreate your best designs, set up your store, and opt into the marketplace so new buyers can find you while your audience catches up.

Where we're not the best fit (yet)

We'd rather you pick the right tool than the wrong one:

  • Memberships and subscriptions: not offered.
  • Your own domain name: not yet. Your store lives at merchroad.com/shop/your-handle.
  • YouTube, TikTok Shop and Twitch integrations: not yet. Share your store link, tracking links and embeds instead.
  • Text and personalization in the design editor: not yet. Design text in your own app and upload it as a PNG.
  • Handmade goods that live on search traffic: Etsy's shoppers are there for that.
